Time
I originally decided to consider the concept of time through the lens of an exhibtion call. The exhibition was hosted by The New Zealand regional group of SDA ( The Surface Design Association) and was juried by Dr Carole M. Shepheard. We connect with the conept of time and how it passes through physical forms such as the tides or the changes of season. However the cultural viewpoint of time may vary across the world. This viewpoint is part of a silent language or invisible influence that effects each and every person living within that culture. The exhibition asked us to share how we interpreted that silent language and use it within our pratice to make it become “visible”.
I created one original piece called ” Multitasking from a Woman’s Perspective”. I wanted to demonstrate the cultural expectations of how a woman of Western culture is expected to ultizie her time. Th exhibition topic sparked a desire for me to express other concepts regarding time within the silent language of my culture. Additonal pieces regaridng those thoughts will be shared in this portfolio.
