Multitasking From A Womans Perspective by C Strickler

Materials: cotton thread, fabric and acrylic paint on canvas

24 cm x 30 cm

Multitasking from a Woman’s Perspective is a mixed media painting using cotton thread, fabric, and acrylic paint on canvas. The artwork explores Western culture’s obsession with productivity and the pressures placed on women to excel in multiple roles. A cartoon-like backdrop frames a woman navigating work, self-improvement, social life, and caregiving. Cotton stitching creates furrows on her forehead, while frayed fabric reflects her mental and emotional strain. Multiple, disproportionate limbs illustrate the ways women warp themselves to meet societal expectations. This piece invites viewers to reflect on the emotional labor and multitasking demands placed on women in modern life.

Process

Go behind the scenes of Multitasking from a Woman’s Perspective, a mixed media painting by Christy Strickler. In this process video, I share how I combined cotton thread, fabric, and acrylic on canvas to bring the concept to life. I  explain my creative choices and the techniques that make the finished artwork visually and emotionally engaging. This video provides a close look at my approach to contemporary feminist mixed-media art and the ways I utilize thread and fabric to tell a story.
